Now that I’m 12, I have been reading more books for older children and even some for adults. I have been reading a lot of new book series for example Harry Potter and I’m still reading some of my old favourite book series like Malory Towers.

I am reading a brilliant book series about a chalet school in Austria. The main character is called Josephine Bettany but everyone calls her Joey. Her sister, Marge Bettany, starts a chalet school and there are only a handful of students including about three boarders who live there and five day girls.

Joey is friends with a French girl called Simone Lecoutier and is also friends with the other English girl Grizel Cochrane and an Austrian girl called Frieda Mensch.

All the books are amazing and she becomes very close to a particular young French girl called Robin and looks out for her during her time at school. Robin is my favourite character because she is very kind and thoughtful. She is about six in the second one and she becomes firm friends with Joey. Joey is one of my favourite characters as well. She is a very kind and bookish girl and looks after Robin and is very protective of her. She is trilingual as she speaks German, English and French as those are the main languages of the chalet school.

The first two books have a lot of German and French in them and throughout the series they have German and French phrases in it. It’s fun as you can find out what it means and it’s also great as I am learning German at school. The books are very rare and can be expensive though the prices differ as some books are expensive, some less expensive. You can read them in any order but I’d recommend reading them in order so you understand the story lines and the characters.

I love the books and cannot wait to read the next few books in the series to find out what happens to the characters. The series has about 64 books in it and I can’t wait to read more.
